How to Connect to the CardNexus VPN
The CardNexus VPN allows you to securely access internal services (databases, internal tools, etc.) from your computer. Follow the steps below to get connected.
Step 1: Download the AWS VPN Client
Download and install the AWS VPN Client desktop application for your operating system:
- macOS (Apple Silicon): Download for macOS ARM64Â
- macOS (Intel): Download for macOS x64Â
- Windows (x64): Download for WindowsÂ
- Windows (ARM64): Download for Windows ARM64Â
- Linux (Ubuntu): Installation instructionsÂ
Step 2: Download the VPN Configuration File
Download the CardNexus VPN configuration file and save it somewhere you’ll remember (e.g. your Downloads folder).
Step 3: Import the Profile
- Open the AWS VPN Client application.
- Go to File > Manage Profiles.
- Click Add Profile.
- Give it a name (e.g.
CardNexus VPN). - Select the
.ovpnfile you downloaded in Step 2. - Click Add Profile.
Step 4: Connect
- Select the CardNexus VPN profile from the dropdown.
- Click Connect.
- A browser window will open — sign in with your CardNexus Google account.
- Once authenticated, the client will show Connected.
You’re all set! You can now access internal CardNexus services.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect in the AWS VPN Client when you no longer need access. The VPN uses split tunneling, so only traffic to internal services goes through the VPN — regular internet browsing is unaffected.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Browser doesn’t open on connect | Make sure your default browser is set and try again. |
| Authentication fails | Ensure you’re using your CardNexus Google account, not a personal one. |
| Connected but can’t reach services | Try disconnecting and reconnecting. If the issue persists, contact the infrastructure team. |
| Client shows “connection timed out” | Check your internet connection and retry. If on a restrictive network (hotel, airport), try a different network. |
